Wheel Safety

The Right Stuff knows that you have probably heard how important it is to wear proper safety gear when you are riding your bicycle. Well, the reason you hear the same safety message from many different sources is because it is true. It is important to wear safety gear when you are riding a bike. And, it is also important that you wear safety gear when you are riding around on your scooter, inline skating, roller skating, or skateboarding.

Man Riding Bicycle
Take a look at the facts:

The most serious type of bicycle injuries are injuries to the head.

From May 2000 to September 2000, the number of emergency room visits from people on scooters increased 700 percent, and there were 4,000 scooter-related injuries in August 2000 alone. The number one thing you can do to prevent injury or a hospital visit, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, is wear proper safety gear. When you are riding on a scooter, you should wear a helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads.

When skating (roller skating, inline skating, or skateboarding), you need to know that helmets are essential, especially if you are just learning how to skate. You should also wear wrist braces and knee pads, but remember to protect your brain first. A wrist or knee injury is more likely to heal and easier to deal with as long as you can still think straight.

Remember, it is important to have fun, but it is also important to be safe. You can go out and bike and skate when you are healthy and free from injury. Don't forget to gear up so you can keep having fun!
