Inhalants- Reality and Myth

The goal of this exercise is to learn the short-term and long-term effects of inhalant use.

  1. Begin this exercise by lead a discussion the dangers of inhalants with your students. Your goal is to find out what facts your students know about inhalants and to correct any mispeceptions they may have.
  2. Divide your students up into groups and give them the assignment of listing all of the dangers and affects of inhalants. You can have them use Prevlink as a resource or print out the following materials for them to use:
  3. Have each group select a representative to write their list of dangers and efftect up on the board. Discuss the final list with your class.
  4. Finally, assign students to complete The Right Stuff word search on inhalants or write an article for a student newspaper about why students should stay away from inhalants.

Note- this exercise can be repeated using any drug of concern.
