The Mind Over Matter series is designed to teach students in grades 5-9 about the biological effects of drug abuse on the body and brain.

Mind Over Matter: Hallucinogens (Poster) Online Version
Explains how hallucinogens affect the brain's communication centers as well as its ability to control sleep and emotions.

Mind Over Matter: Inhalants (Poster) Online Version
Describes how inhalants can wear away at the myelin sheath that protects the brain's nerve cells.

Mind Over Matter: Marijuana (Poster) Online Version
This poster contains scientific information on how marijuana acts in the body and brain, with an emphasis on its harmful effects.

Mind Over Matter: Methamphetamine (Poster) Online Version
This poster contains scientific information on how methamphetamine acts in the body and brain, with an emphasis on its harmful effects.

Mind Over Matter: Nicotine (Poster) Online Version
Explains scientifically how nicotine affects the entire body. Describes how the drug acts directly on the heart to change heart rate and blood pressure. Discusses dependency, treatment, and effects of long-term nicotine use.

Mind Over Matter: Opiates (Poster) Online Version
Explains how opiates affect the brain stem, the spinal cord, and the limbic system. Discusses dependency and the results of long-term exposure to opiates.

Mind Over Matter: Steroids (Poster) Online Version
Shows how anabolic steroids can cause liver damage and cancer and weaken the immune system.

Mind Over Matter: Stimulants (Poster) Online Version
Explores how stimulants change the way nerve cells communicate and affect neurotransmission.

Mind Over Matter: Teacher's Guide Online Version
The series encourages young teens to reject drug use by helping them understand the effects of drugs on the brain. A budding science student takes students on a scientific journey to learn about the brain's complex responses to specific drugs. Manual includes background materials, objectives and activities.
