Join The News Service Listserv

The news service listserv is designed to facilitate the transmittal of the latest news and funding announcements to behavioral health professionals in Nebraska. Members are also encouraged to share news and announcements that may be of interest to other behavioral health professionals. To join the listserve, please fill out the form below with your name, title, organization, e-mail address, and a brief explanation of why you want to join the list. Since this is a restricted subscription listserv, we will review your information and add you if you are approved.

How Listserv's Work

Listserv's are essentially a"closed circuit" communication device between subscribers with a common interest. Using regular Internet email, subscribers send messages to a special email address on a computer maintained by the organization managing the list. This computer then automatically re-sends each message to the email address of every subscriber on the email list, usually within a matter of minutes. Subscribers follow and contribute to the ongoing discussion simply by reading and sending their personal email. If a subscriber wishes to comment on a post to the email list, he or she has the option of sending a response for broadcast to the entire group, or just to the person originally posting the message.

Description

Prevlist, the electronic mailing list operated by Nebraska Alcohol and Drug Information Clearinghouse, has become a major avenue of information gathering for many behavioral health professionals across Nebraska. Members receive an average of 15-25 messages per month. Each message comes with a descriptive title so you easily and quickly delete messages you are not interested in. You will receive messages in the following subject areas:

  • substance abuse prevention
  • substance abuse treatment
  • dual diagnosis
  • mental health
  • gambling
  • suicide
  • funding opportunities
  • training opportunities
  • announcments about new materials available to citizens of Nebraska
  • new or updated web sites
  • health observances and campaigns
  • and other related information

Purpose

Participation in Prevlist is not open to the general public. The purpose of Prevlist is to support behavioral health professionals in the planning, funding and management of behavioral health programs. Prevlist is designed for peer-to-peer interaction between professionals who are working to strengthen behavioral health programs. For this reason, we restrict participation in Prevlist membership to such individuals.
